Your last chance to register to achieve greater diversity and inclusion in the logistics industry

Women make up a mere 21.9% of the workforce in transport, postal & warehousing sector In 2013, only 9.2% of Chief Executive Officers in transport postal and warehousing industry were women Despite a 28% growth in employment within the industry from 2002 – 2012, the number of women in the industry increased by only 1%
As an industry, we must do better.

This is your opportunity to improve these statistics.
Next Wednesday’s ALC Diversity & Inclusion Summit will map a series of actions ALC can take forward, to attract, support and develop women in the industry.  Only by bringing the industry together can we properly capture the policy issues that matter to our sector.

In a report released last week by the Workplace Gender Equality Agency acknowledging Australia’s top employers of choice for gender equality, the logistics industry was barely represented, with only two companies associated with ALC making the list.

This figure is all the more concerning when you consider the logistics industry represents 8.6% of the national economy, and employs some 1.2 million Australians across thousands of businesses.
The logistics industry is lagging behind many other sectors of the economy when it comes to encouraging and supporting greater diversity.

The Summit is the logistics industry’s first step in responding to this challenge.  Be part of the action.
