T&L Brochures

With the launch of the T&L Logo in 2008, ALC has printed a quantity of ‘Get into T&L’ brochures. The brochures are aimed at the youth market and will be invaluable at Career Expos and other career forums. The brochures contain summary sections on:

  • ‘So What’s T&L’?
  • Why you would join T&L
  • Information on each mode (Air, Sea, Road & Rail)
  • Lists the kind of jobs that are in T&L
  • Explains what Warehousing and Distribution means
  • e-technology and how it fits in to T&L
  • Qualifications for T&L

Virtual Career Expos

A Virtual Career T&L Expo website has been developed so that people unable to get to a Career Expo can now just travel online to get all the required information.

Career FAQs

The ALC supported the Queensland Transport Industry Capability Branch in their development and launch of the Career FAQs Transport & Logistics book. This book profiles over 25 people working in freight, aviation, rail, road, warehousing, stevedoring and maritime services so that you can decide which area of this dynamic industry is for you.

The foreword is written by John Mickel, Minister for Transport, Trade, Employment and Industrial Relations, Queensland.With advice on writing résumés and cover letters to get your foot in the door, interview tips and the insider knowledge on what’s really happening in the industry, Career FAQs Transport & Logistics has all you need to get your career moving.

National DVD

The T&L Industry Skills Council have developed a national T&L DVD. This DVD:

  • Goes for 15 minutes in total covering the T&L sectors (2min's each section roughly)
  • The idea is for teachers/career advisors to play the DVD at the start of a class & have time to discuss it with the students upon completion
  • It is anticipated students will learn about the various sectors & investigate careers pathways & opportunities in T&L via the websites listed on the DVD

MOU/Agreements with T&L Recruitment Agencies

ALC has several T&L Recruitment agencies signed to MOU’s. Those agencies are:

LINC contains careers briefs and pathway information, industry information for the general public and links to more complex information for industry professionals. It can be found at www.the-linc.com.au
  • LINC has two main parts – Careers Information and Industry Information. These are accessed through an interactive "ship’s wheel" control that provides further information as you "mouse over" a section of interest.
  • The Careers Section contains job briefs, each outlining possible career pathways; required education, aptitudes and experience; and work pay and conditions. It enables users to map out an entire career, following from job to job, and identifying the requirements to move from one to another.

The Career and Course Guide for Victoria Transport, Logistics and Supply Chain Industry

The guide has been designed to assist students, parents and careers counsellors who are seeking information about a career in the transport, logistics and supply chain industry. Included is information about the very wide range of occupations available in the industry and how to access them through various training options. There are various pathways to become involved in the industry starting with VET certificate training, cadetships, on-the-job training and diplomas and degrees.
