Practical workshops to feature at ALC Diversity & Inclusion Summit

The 2016 ALC Diversity & Inclusion Summit will focus on improving how the logistics industry attracts women, youth and Indigenous people to the logistics industry, and how it can better retain and support those already working in the sector.  With both plenary sessions and practical workshops featured during the Summit, delegates will have the opportunity to contribute to, and learn from, several workshops including:

Case study: Aurizon ‘Shared Care’ initiative
– Donna McMahon, Vice President Organisational Capability, AurizonIn a first for Australia, in early 2016 Aurizon launched a bold new initiative to give families a financial incentive for men to take on primary care of their child in the first year after birth. Shared Care gives Aurizon employees greater choice when considering child care options for their child in the first year.

Donna McMahon will discuss the initiative in more detail, how it is working since coming into effect in May and some early feedback from our Aurizon mums and dads who have taken up the initiative.

Making our industry desirable
– Jacquelene Brotherton, Transport Manager, Oxford Cold StorageOur industry has many stereotypes and this needs to change. To attract our future workforce, we truly have to transform the way we think.
